Due to Britain's ageing population and the increased risk of death or serious injury that elderly people face in a road traffic accident, the DVLA are putting forward a consultation document that may propose that drivers aged over 70 undertake compulsory tests. Currently, elderly motorists are required to complete a form every three years detailing their medical conditions, in future they may have to be assessed by a doctor.
