In-work Drivers Linked to Many Road Deaths

Posted on December 6, 2007 04:23 by office

The Department for Transport is keen to reduce the number of deaths caused by employees driving for work, after their figures for last year show that over a quarter of all road deaths involve someone driving for work.  They have launched the first safety campaign which is aimed mainly at those driving for work, and specifically van drivers.  They plan to follow it with a campaign aimed mainly at company car drivers.

I recently became involved in a case where upon I was court speeding, I was traveling at 35 MPH in 30 MPH area, my wife who is very disabled and suffers from epilepsy, was struck with such an attack on the day in question, unknown to me there was a police camera vehicle in the area.

A few days later I received a summons for speeding, I tried to explain in writing the reason for the error but my letter fell on deaf ears.

To cut a long story short I received a phone call from Mr Nick Freeman who had read the story in a number of news papers, heard on Radio and seen on TV the rather could not care less response from Catherine Richardson deputy file manager and file decision maker, who ignored two letters and phone calls, it was she not the police who decided that the case would go ahead.

Mr Freeman took time out of his very busy schedule to call me and said that he was very concerned at the way my wife and I had been treat, that he would be happy to represent my wife and I should the case come to court, and that he would make no charge for his services.

This in its self was the best news we had heard in many days of stress, anxiety, and acute depression.

Mr Freeman I just want to say how you lifted a very big weight of both my wife's and my shoulders just to know some one like you was on our side should we get into difficulties. Thank you so very much indeed If I can ever repay the compliment please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Nick Freeman took a very big weight of the shoulders of my wife and I just know he cared.
