More and more motorists are attending speed awareness courses so as to avoid points on their licences.  Figures show that 350,000 drivers will go on the course in 2010 compared to 210,000 each year of the first two years the courses were available.  

There are now 35 police forces in England & Wales offering the course, 7 more forces than at the beginning of the year.  Police forces are encouraging motorists to attend the course as they can keep a proportion of the course fees.
