Two motorists who claim that current laws that mean car owners must name the driver breach their human rights as they are forced to incriminate themselves, have lost their appeal in the European Court of Human Rights. The judgment stated that people with cars have implicitly "accepted certain responsibilities" under UK law including the obligation to name the driver of the vehicle after a road traffic offence has occurred.
