Superintendent Helen Chamberlain was recorded speeding at 79mph in a 50mph limit, by her own force.  However, she is claiming that the speed gun used was inaccurate and is also challenging the quality of the road signs in the area.

Superintendent Chamberlain was given a verbal warning by the officer that stopped her, but then a more senior officer disagreed with that decision and asked the Crown Prosecution Service to get involved and review the case.

The trial will be in October at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
